mrsnowgysport : Leicester vs Crystal Palace

Last season’s champions have made a below-par start to their title defence but their Champions League campaign is going more than people expected and with the way they have been playing we all can see that more preference has been placed on the champions league. Palace currently lie ninth, having been boosted in the transfer window by the arrival of Christian Benteke. The corresponding fixture last season was settled by a Jamie Vardy winner after his scoring prowess of scoring in 7 matches in a row.

MrSnowgysSport :Leicester outclassed Club Brugge

I was having a conversation with some people few weeks ago and they wrote Leicester off the map. On their debut in the champions league and away from home they won by 3 goals to nil.

Following their early struggles in defending their domestic crown, the Foxes finally showed up on the biggest stage the club has ever had the privilege of playing on.
First Lucas Hernandez’s long-throw was flicked over the top of goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle by his own defender, allowing Marc Albrighton to steal in at the back post and net a historic first goal in Europe’s premier club competition for the King Power Stadium outfit.
Jamie Vardy displayed his typical tenacity to latch onto a misplaced pass along the Brugge backline and win a free-kick 20 yards from goal. Riyad Mahrez stepped up, and with the ball nestling into the top corner, the 1,400 travelling supporters were understandably in dreamland.

Mahrez added a third from the penalty spot in the second period after another misplaced pass led to Vardy being tripped inside the box by Butelle, and if teams on the continent were not already aware of Leicester’s quality then they certainly will be now.
Will Leicester be another fairy tale in the champions league as well?
I guess only time will tell and am sure they have written themselves on the map and everybody has noticed them. This is not a fairy tale again.

MrSnowgysSport :Adrien Silva joins Leicester City

http://mrsnowgy.blogspot.com/2016/08/mrsnowgyssport-adrien-silva-joins.html

Sporting Lisbon and Portugal midfielder Adrien Silva has “confirmed” he will join Leicester City. The midfielder, who was part of the Portuguese squad which won Euro 2016, claims he will leave Sporting for the Premier League in a reported £21m move in the current transfer window.

Silva looks likely to follow Sporting team-mate Islam Slimani to the King Power Stadium as Leicester bid to complete a double raid on the 2015/16 Portuguese League runners-up, although there has been no official confirmation from the club.

In an interview with Porto-based newspaper O Jogo, Silva said: “Yes, I confirm this proposal. Leicester is very interesting and corresponds to my career goals. “After the past 15 years at Sporting, this opportunity is something exceptional for me and can allow me to express and impose myself in another championship, and also to evolve in the Premier League, which is a stunning league.

“I love Sporting as a family and I dedicated myself to the club since I was 12 years old. “With Sporting I lived many moments of happiness. I can say that I grew up with the club.

At 27 years old, and after so many years of loyalty, I think that no one will criticise me for wanting to embrace this challenge.”

MrsnowgysSport :Mahrez signs new Leicester City deal

/2016/08/mrsnowgyssport-mahrez-signs-new.html

Riyad Mahrez has ended speculation linking him with a move away from Leicester City by signing a new four-year deal.
The reigning PFA Player of the Year had been tipped to join Arsenal this summer, although interest had recently cooled, and he has now committed himself to the Foxes until 2020.
And the club could not hide their delight at tying down their "magician" for four more seasons.
"Leicester City Football Club is delighted to announce that Riyad Mahrez has signed a new contract, committing his future to the Foxes until June, 2020," the club's statement reads.
"The reigning PFA Players’ Player of the Year signs new terms after playing a starring role in City’s unforgettable Premier League title triumph last season – the latest stage of a remarkable journey for the 25-year-old Algerian in Leicester City colours.

"Signed from Le Havre of the French second tier in January 2014, Riyad’s two-and-a-half-year spell with Leicester has seen him establish himself as an Algeria international, a Premier League champion and one of the most feared attacking players in Europe. He scored 17 goals and contributed 11 assists last season in the most remarkable title triumph in Premier League history." The clubs fans will be happy that the speculation of him moving to arsenal during this summer will come to rest at last.

Mrsnowgys sport: Leicester loses opening match

Leicester was humiliated by a team that we all thought would finish at the bottom of the league at the end of the season, Claudio Ranieri’s men lined up with last season’s stars Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy intact, while new signing Ahmed Musa started.
The champions were expected to bounce back when Mike Dean offered a penalty early in the second half, despite Demarai Gray being fouled outside the box.
While Mahrez coolly converted the penalty, Leicester’s good work was undone just 10 minutes afterwards when Schmeichel recklessly threw away possession and, with his defence caught out of position, the goalkeeper was caught out as it fell to an unmarked Robert Snodgrass, whose fine finish struck the back of the net.
This is the first game of the season and we are hoping to see an improved performance next time out by their stars.
