mrsnowgysport : Last Season’s Title Rivals Do Battle, Pep Takes On Pulis – Premier League Preview

Liverpool have sealed two more victories in the last week, beating both West Brom and Tottenham 2-1 in the Premier League and League Cup, respectively.

Last weekend was a perfect one for Jurgen Klopp, with Chelsea the only other top-four rival to walk away with all three point.

The Blues destroyed Man United 4-0, while Man City, Spurs and Arsenal could only draw. Everton, meanwhile, were beaten 2-1 late on at Burnley.

Liverpool face what could be a tough trip to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace on Saturday – a ground where they have suffered plenty of misery down the years.

It is one of 10 top flight games to look forward – here’s a look at the best of the upcoming action.

Last Season’s Title Rivals Do Battle

It still seems hard to believe that Leicester City are the current reigning champions, especially given their average start to this season.
Although Arsenal ended up finishing second in 2015/16, it was Spurs who were Leicester’s biggest rivals for much of the campaign, and they face each other at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
The hosts are still undefeated in the league this season, although back-to-back draws against Bournemouth and West Brom mean Mauricio Pochettino could do with a win.
Leicester, meanwhile, will have been buoyed by their 3-1 victory at home to Crystal Palace last weekend, as they look to find some much-needed momentum.
They have shipped 11 goals in away matches against Liverpool, Man United and Chelsea, however, so Spurs will fancy their chances.

Pep Takes On Pulis

After a stunning start to life in England, Pep Guardiola is feeling the heat for the first time, enduring his worst run of results in management.
The Spaniard is reportedly surprised by the sheer intensity of managing a Premier League club, and his Man City side have not won in the league in three attempts.
On Saturday, Guardiola takes his side to the Hawthorns to do battle with Tony Pulis’ West Brom – a match that is never much fun for the opposing team.
The Baggies may well play the least attractive football in the division, but as they showed at Anfield last weekend, they never give up and they will always provide their opponents with a physical battle.
You would expect City’s quality to shine through in the end, but the longer they go without breaking the deadlock, the more frustrated they will get.

Saints Eye Another Upset

Southampton deserve enormous credit for the way in which they keep responding from losing a top class manager.
There were plenty who tipped them to struggle in 2016/17, having lost Ronald Koeman to Everton, but they have been excellent, and currently lie eighth in the table.
The football they play is intricate and aesthetically-pleasing, and as their 1-1 draw at Man City last Sunday showed, their game also possesses plenty of substance.
Virgil van Dijk and Jose Fonte are an excellent centre-back pairing, while the likes of Jordy Clasie, Steven Davis, Dusan Tadic and Nathan Redmond bring quality in midfield and attack.
The Saints host Chelsea this weekend, in what has the potential to be the most interesting match of Gameweek 10.
Antonio Conte’s men are flying after a rocky patch, and a win at St Mary’s would really suggest that they are right in the title mix.

Moyes’ Last Game At Sunderland?

David Moyes’ Sunderland have endured a disastrous start to the season, picking up just two points from their first nine matches.
It is their worst ever opening to a Premier League campaign.
Moyes is the firm bookies’ favourite to be the next top flight manager sacked, and things don’t get any easier, with Arsenal visiting the Stadium of Light on Saturday lunchtime.
Should they lose yet again, especially if the defeat is convincing, it may well prove to be the final nail in Moyes’ coffin.
Arsenal surprisingly drew 0-0 at home to Middlesbrough last weekend, and Arsene Wenger will have his side fired up against limited opposition.
The Gunners are usually experts at dispatching of the weaker teams, regardless of their slip-up against ‘Boro, and anything other than all three points would be a shock.

Must-Win Game For Mourinho

It has been a rather bizarre start to life at Man United for Jose Mourinho, and the 4-0 defeat at former club Chelsea was humiliation at its finest.
The Portuguese looks a far cry from the charismatic figure who arrived in England in 2004, and there are real question marks about the job he is doing at Old Trafford.
This Saturday sees United host Burnley, and it is a match that Mourinho’s men simply have to win, even though Wednesday’s League Cup victory over City eased the pressure somewhat.
Sean Dyche’s men have really struggled away from home this season, and for all their fighting spirit and team ethic, the quality they possess is lacking.
With United’s five biggest rivals at the top all looking strong, despite the odd dropped point here and there, they cannot afford to lose further ground.

mrsnowgysport : Mourinho Shocks Manchester United Players With Cold Approach In Training Following Defeat From Chelsea

The Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho has apparently shocked his players by not leading training himself, preferring to sit in his office and watch from a distance Manchester United's stars are shocked at Jose Mourinho's "cold" and "distant" approach in training following their 4-0 loss at Chelsea, according to The Times.
The Portuguese suffered his heaviest-ever Premier League defeat on Sunday at Stamford Bridge and blasted his side's "incredible defensive mistakes" after the result.

Mourinho kept up his line of accusation ahead of their EFL Cup fourth round clash against Manchester City in midweek, calling the players "boys", and it appears his approach in training reflects his attitude towards his squad at the moment.

It is claimed that it is Rui Faria, Mourinho's assistant, who is leading training at the club's Carrington complex. Mourinho, meanwhile, is alleged to watch from a distance or work in his office most of the time.

The cold treatment has reportedly come as an unpleasant surprise to those who thought Mourinho would give them special attention.

The Times claims that Mourinho has no intention of changing his approach to the Man Utd squad he inherited from Louis van Gaal any time soon either.

Mrsnowgysport: Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy shortlisted on the 2016 Ballon d'or

Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have been named on the 2016 Ballon d’Or award shortlist for the world’s best player.
Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, and Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne and Sergio Aguero also feature.
Other Premier League names on the list are West Ham midfielder Dimitri Payet and Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi are included.
Bale scored three goals as Wales reached the Euro 2016 semi-final and won the Champions League with Real alongside Ronaldo.

Pogba, Payet and Lloris are included after finishing runners-up with France to Ronaldo’s Portugal at Euro 2016.
Luis Suarez and Neymar are included alongside Barcelona team-mate Messi, the trio having scored 106 club goals combined in 2016.
France Football magazine revealed the 30-man shortlist on Monday.
Fifa ended its association with the award in September.
The prize has been awarded by France Football every year since 1956, but for the past six years it became the Fifa Ballon d’Or in association with world football’s governing body.
Five Premier League players – City’s Aguero, De Bruyne and Yaya Toure, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard – made a 23-man shortlist last year, with Bale the only British player on the list.
Ibrahimovic and Pogba were also included last time for their performances for Paris St-Germain and Juventus respectively.
The shortlist has traditionally been trimmed to three players before the awards evening in January.

mrsnowgysport : Chelsea probable line up against Man United

Willian and Oscar returned from Brazil on Thursday morning after having both suffered family bereavements in the same week, but may not be ready to start the match with only two training sessions under their belts.

I don't think Conte will want to change his back three that has been doing well of late. The only contention is just whether Willian  will be in the right frame of mind after just losing his mom.

mrsnowgysport : Can Mourinho deliver a win at Anfield

Both managers have called for calm among the fans at what could be the biggest game of the Premier League season so far.
But it could get heated on the pitch, too, in one of football's biggest rivalries, with plenty at stake as Liverpool host Manchester United on Monday (20:00 BST).
Jurgen Klopp's hosts are in red-hot form - having scored 12 goals in their past four games - while United have won only once in four league matches.
Jenas: "Liverpool are out-and-out favourites. I don't think Mourinho knows his best XI. You could pick Liverpool's team right now. You can't do that with United."
Mrsnowgysport: If Mourinho can just partner Herrera with Pogba at the middle of the park we will see something different from United and the match can be said to be even.

mrsnowgysport : Yippee It's the weekend and the premier league is back

Premier League football returns after the international break with a mouthwatering line-up.
Champions Leicester travel to Chelsea to kick off the action on a Saturday on which leaders Manchester City face fifth-placed Everton and there is a London derby between Crystal Palace and West Ham.
The biggest game of this round of fixtures, however, comes on Monday as Liverpool take on Manchester United.

Will Conte be laughing again?

After one win in four league matches for Antonio Conte's Chelsea, some bookmakers stopped taking bets on the Italian being the next Premier League manager to lose his job. Helaughed that off in his news conference on the eve of Leicester's visit.
Saturday's game (at 12:30 BST) pits Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante against his former side - and the Foxes are missing the Frenchman, says captain Wes Morgan.
Morgan says what Kante did for the Foxes last season was "incredible" - he averaged 4.7 tackles and 4.2 interceptions per game, the highest in the Premier League in both categories.
His role at Chelsea has differed, however, with a greater emphasis on passing, playing 65 per game on average as opposed to 39 last season.
Next up for Leicester is a Champions League tie against FC Copenhagen - their previous two European matches have been preceded by 4-1 defeats in the Premier League.
Former England midfielder Jermaine Jenas told BBC Radio 5 live: "I think Conte will be happy with how things have started to develop but he is clearly not comfortable with what he is seeing in a back four. He's been going with three at the back and two midfield enforcers."
Will Pep risk using Aguero?
Sergio Aguero has scored 28 goals in his past 28 Premier League appearances for Manchester City. But, after flying roughly the same distance as Sanchez, will he start a potentially tricky home match against Everton on Saturday (15:00 BST)?
Aguero played 163 minutes, nursed a calf complaint and missed a penalty as Argentina drew with Peru and lost to Paraguay during the international break.
City boss Pep Guardiola said the 28-year-old and fellow forwards Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling are "much, much better" after recent injuries.
But will they play as the Blues look to bounce back from a first defeat of the season at Tottenham, or will they be saved for a Champions League trip to Barcelona?
Everton are fifth but without a win in two league games, and manager Ronald Koeman said: "We know we can be better."
Osman: "No-one would be surprised if City were beaten at the Nou Camp, so if the Everton game doesn't go well they are on a bad four-game streak and people start asking questions - is there a mini-crisis? That type of thing starts to breed into the club."

Who will be the last winless team?

Stoke and Sunderland face each other at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday (15:00 BST) as the only winless sides in the Premier League.
But both have come close to notching that elusive victory in recent games.
Sunderland threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at home to Crystal Palace on September 24, the same day Stoke conceded in injury time to draw 1-1 with West Brom.
Stoke manager Mark Hughes said the onus is on his side to be positive in a match "we need to win and feel we can win".
Sunderland counterpart David Moyes, meanwhile, said he will "find a way" to get three points.

mrsnowgysport : Victor Moses could face premier league ban

The Chelsea midfielder, who was utilised by Antonio Conte as a wing-back in their last game against Hull, has been accused of feigning injury by the Nigerian Football Federation.
Players can be suspended in their domestic leagues if FIFA find they've dodged international duty for no good reason.
Following the Hull game Moses tweeted: "Unfortunately I'm feeling my hamstring and so the club medical team will be reviewing me. Will be working hard to get fit asap #CFC".
But apparently the Nigerian body aren't convinced Moses is really hurt.
“We know the two players had good games and there was no sign of injury on the duo during or after the game,” an NFF source toldCompletesportsnigeria.com.
“It came as a surprise to hear later that Moses was injured and that he would not be available for the game and [Isaac] Success finished his team’s game before claiming injury.”
“Honestly, they won’t go unpunished if our investigation turns out as we are suspecting,” added the source.
“In fact, we are considering writing a protest to FIFA if we find out that they connived with their respective clubs to feign injuries and stay away from the matches.”
The FIFA rules say a player without a legitimate reason to skip an international match are ineligible to play for their club during the international period.
And apparently a five-day ban can be imposed on players found to be swerving international duty.
The rulebooks says: “A player who has been called up by his association for one of its representative teams is, unless otherwise agreed by the relevant association, not entitled to play for the club… during the period for which he has been released or should have been released.
"This restriction on playing for the club shall, moreover, be prolonged by five days in the event that the player, for whatsoever reason, did not wish to or was unable to comply with the call-up.”

 /2016/09/premierleague-squad.html

View all the players registered by the 20 top-flight clubs for this season

After the closing of the summer transfer window each Premier League club had a deadline of 4pm on 1 September to submit a squad list containing no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the "Home Grown Player" (HGP) criteria.
The remainder of the squad, up to a total of 25 players, must be Home Grown. Changes to the squad list of 25 may be made during the period of a transfer window. Under-21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad. For the 2016/17 campaign Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 1995.
Each club squad list is below as well as an additional list of each club’s registered Under-21 players who are eligible over and above the squad limit of 25 players.
