EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND

He was the first Male child from a family of seven from Ifon, Ondo state, AY was born and bred in Delta State. He had a very humble and unassuming start, parlaying his charm and talent to a successful career in the Nigerian comedy scene.

He gained fame through impersonating Rev. Chris Okotie in his hilarious jokes, and by 2006, when he began; he was named the Best Up-Coming Comedian in Nigeria.
That wasn’t AY’s first award. The gifted comedian holds an enviable record of being the first student to direct a convocation production in the history of the Theatre Arts Department of the Delta State University, where he graduated in 2003.

In his campus days, he received many awards including: The Most Fashionable Student on Campus (1999 and 2000); The Most Celebrated Student on Campus (2001), Best Showbiz Promoter (2001), Jaycee Club
Socio-Cultural Personality Award (2003), and The Most Celebrated Theatre Arts Student (2003).

Presently, AY has taken comedy out of the box. He writes the column, Going AY-Wire every Friday on The Sun Newspapers, (Nigeria’s most circulated National Daily) and every month he writes Jokes Apart in Gbenga Adeyinka’s monthly comedy journal, Laffmatazz. He presents The AY Live on The Morning Drive every Friday from 6am to 10am on Rhythm 93.7 FM, Lagos.

CAREER AND LIFE
Ayo Makun came into spotlight after being Alibaba Akporobome’s personal assistant and event manager. A.Y also wrote going “A.Y wire” as a guest columnist in The Sun (Nigeria)and Gbenga Adeyinka’s “laugh mattaz”.

AY has become the ‘father’ of many upcoming acts and established acts that are doing well in the industry, through the monthly AY’s Open Mic Challenge that holds every third Sunday, at The National Theatre, Lagos.

The AY Show, arguably the best Comedy Show on Nigeria TV, shows on AYTV which airs daily on HITV across the country, and all over Europe winning BEST TV COMEDY SHOW in 2008, and has since been a must watch. He publishes Nigeria’s first comedy magazine, and he hosts (across the country, too) the usually out-sold comedy and music concerts AY Live.

Twice, AY Live has broken and set enviable record standards in comedy events in Nigeria. In 2007, he held Lagos spell bound when the second edition of AY Live, Lagos Invasion drew a record crowd forcing him to do two shows instead of one, as planned. 

Two years later,similar feat was reenacted in Nigeria’s Federal Capital City, when AY Live, Abuja Invasion stood Abuja still, and becoming Abuja’s most attended entertainment events, ever.

AY was awarded UN Peace Ambassador in 2009 after winning six different awards in 2008, all confirming one same thing: “COMEDIAN OF YEAR”

Ayo Makun directs and acts in one of Nigeria’s popular sitcom, AY’s cribwith Alex Ekubo, Venita Akpofure, Buchi Franklin and Justice Nuagbe. He also hosts one of Africa’s largest comedy shows, AY live featuring other comedians like Bovi, Helen Pauland many other comedians. Ayo Makun is also, the Chief Executive Officer for Corporate World entertainment, Nigeria. He also owns one of the biggest and most comfortable Club houses in Nigeria. An investor in stand-up comedy as he has influenced upcoming comedians through his AY “Open Mic Challenge”

He married Mabel in 2008 and they are blessed with a daughter, Michelle.

In 2014 A.Y wrote and produced a movie titled “30 days in Atlanta” movie which before released has got many Nigerians attention.. Shot in the U.S and also got many nominations before release.

AY’s YouTube page was said to have been the most viewed comedian channel on YouTube..

Complete Biography of Adekunle Gold

INTRODUCTION  

Adekunle Gold is a Nigerian Urban-Highlife and pop singer, who got signed to YBNL records in 2015 and hit spotlight the same year after releasing several ht singles.

EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND  

Adekunle Gold, who is a graduate of Lagos State Polytechnic with a degree in Graphics, formed a band “The Bridge” with best friend, Seyikeyz, in 2010 and they released four songs “No sleeping on a bicycle”, “Norm Breaker” featuring Skales and “All of me” (John legend cover). In 2013, he Left ‘The Bridge’ to debut as a solo act. Having identified his style of music, he released a song titled “Let it stop”, a song about peace for the nation.

His dad used to play classic songs by King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey while he drove them to school every day. He developed interest in music from listening to those men.
He wrote his first song at the age of 15 and started out singing in his early teens as a member of the junior church choir.

The popular singer is quite known for his Photoshop skills in the social media back in 2013.

When asked in an interview about his Photoshops and his music career he said:

 “Photoshop is fun; I love the way it makes people laugh and the attention I get. I do not like to be the ordinary guy; I like to be known for something. I made a picture of me hugging Tiwa Savage from behind and when I posted it on Instagram; I was overwhelmed by people’s response. I decided to continue with it and as time went on, bloggers started writing about me, people started talking about it and that increased my fan base. It has helped me meet people that have assisted me with my music career.”

CAREER AND LIFE  

In 2014, he released his version of One Direction’s ‘Story Of My Life”, which he titled ‘SADE’. This song enjoyed massive airplay and got him signed to YBNL.

When he released Sade, Fuse and the rest of the YBNL crew listened to it and fell in love with it. Fuse insisted Olamide should sign him with the group. He thought about it and because of the good relationship they have, he called him and they discussed the terms. He wanted to feign reluctance when he was told the terms of the contract but he could not help his excitement because it was a good offer.
He mentioned in an interview about him being in the ybnl crew even before getting signed to the label, he said he has been working with Olamide for a long time, He designed the YBNL logo, he did a couple designs for the label before he got signed.

Later in 2015 Adekunle released abother single under YBNL titled “Orente”, the song was quite accepted by fans and was quite a hit same year.
Adekunle’s two singles were heavy on storytelling. They both take listeners through a tale of romance, which has been instrumental in the success of both singles. In contrast, the rest of the YBNL artistes are pacy rappers. The singer believes that there is a connection between his genre and indigenous rap.

When  asked about the inspiraton and the success of his hit  single Sade, he said;

The song is my story. I asked a girl named Sade, out on a date three years ago but she didn’t accede to my request. She said she was not ready even though I really liked her. The song is about her and everything I narrated in the song is true, aside from the part where I said my parents were disturbing me. That did not happen.

It’s been amazing how people accepted the song. Sade is everywhere on the streets and in homes. I’m really excited about it. It is one song I never knew would be a hit. People say the lifespan of a hit song in Nigeria is three months; I released it in December 2014 and it is more than three months old already. I feel loved and God has proven to me that He will always be with me. I have always wanted to be heard.

He released the videos of his two hit singles which also gained a lot views in 2015 as the singer video style is loved by many people the singer will definitely say 2015 was a great year for him.

In same year 2015 Adekunle Gold beat the likes of Olamide and others to cop the “Beat Of Lagos 2015 Award.
Other music acts in the category include Patoranking, Olamide, Koker and Kiss Daniel.

There were sayings the popular artist is romantically involved with fellow singer “SIMI”, there are several pictures of them on the internet they are said to have been together even before fame.
