CLEANEDGE BEGAN SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT CAMPAIGN

Prior to the official start of the CleanEdge’s save the environment campaign, the project coordinating team visited Methodist Grammar School Bodija yesterday 4th of October, 2017 in what they call the Pilot Phase of the program. It can be recalled earlier that Cleanedge called for volunteers on 22nd of September 2017 in effort to sensitize secondary school student in Oyo State how best they can manage their waste.
The visiting team is made up of the Campaign Manager; Tosin Gbadegesin, Campaign Coordinator; Temitope Ogunweide, Instructor; Toyib Aremu, and the Content Creator, Okunade Waliyah. The reason for this visit is to have a firsthand knowledge of the challenges our volunteers will be facing when we send them out for the campaign.

Reception at the school was awesome showing the right audience was picked and by the time Toyib Aremu started his presentation on waste, how it’s improperly managed, our activities hampering the environment etc. the student and management were all rapt with attention. By the end of his speech which was made so eloquently, most if not all the students knew different ways to recycle their waste and few ways to properly manage their waste. Proof of impact was brilliant questions the students were able to ask at the end of the presentation.
After the question and answer sessions, the school was presented with waste paper bins. CleanEdge hope that when they see these bins they’ll remember “save the environment” campaign and strive to put what was taught to good use. Students were also encouraged to teach others what they learnt today.
Cleanedge therefore hope to take this sensitization exercise to over 150 secondary schools in the state 33 local government from 19th of October to 17th of November 2017

CLEANEDGE SOLUTIONS PLEDGE TO SHOULDER OYO STATE’S ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES

Back in 2015, when the United Nations established a set of shared goals and targets for achieving sustainable development around the world, the development community has been energized, excited but a little bit wary. While the ambition contained in the Global Goals is high, the challenge is very high as well. We do not yet know how things will unfold, but one thing is for sure: the scale, scope and complexity of the economic, environmental and social transformation to come will be such that no one sector- government, businesses, civil society or academia- will be able to manage the development alone. We are going to need some coalition that will bring different sectors together if we are to achieve the set goals.
Civil society organizations, with their capacity for increasing accountability and promoting development plays a very important role if partnership with both governments and businesses can be fostered. By sharing information, resources, activities and capabilities, we can achieve things together that we can never achieve alone.
At CleanEdge Solutions, we are already busy planning strategic partnership, and a particular priority for us now is to improve the cleanliness of Oyo state. We at CleanEdge have the expertise, knowledge and capacity at all levels to contribute to development, especially at the national and community levels. We are looking forward to creating a shared value which will help mobilize businesses to identify and focus on specific efforts to support the SDGs.
We hope to achieve a cleaner Oyo State by 2025 through massive waste education in secondary and tertiary schools of the state, waste collection and waste house where activities such as Recycling, Organic Fertilizer production, Sanders production from Plastics and turn Oyo state capital to a conducive habitat for all.
